This domain marks Ai~’s online presence. This is a personal site by an amateur web designer, and aims primarily to serve as means of an alternative self-expression, as well as a small resource stash consisting of whatever content I wish to share with visitors. This is also my site and fanlisting collective, housing the varied sites that I run: cliques, fanlistings, blog, writing archive, design shop, and hosting services.
The Name
Beatifique.ORG is also accessible through Beatifique.COM and Beatifique.NET. “Beatifique” is French for beatific, a word that signifies what I want this domain to stand for. I have wanted a domain name that reflects positivity, something that speaks about my journey into self. It has to be generic enough that it would encompass all of who I am, all of who I would be, yet individual enough that I could relate to it at any stage in my life. Abstract ideas have always appealed to me, and my Catholic spirituality has always been a huge part of who I am, so I just have to tie all of those things together.
“Beatific” seems to be just the word for that. While it usually connotes saintly visions or relating to the beatitudes, the beauty of this word is that it is one that anyone could construct his own definition of it, yet the basic significance of the word would still hold: i.e., it is one that pertains to the highest joy, the supreme feeling of peace, and in a religious perspective, it is arriving in a state of absolute bliss upon being one with God’s will.
I chose a French word because of all the romance languages, I think French is the most lyrical of all. Say a string of nasty things in French, and it would still sound magical. ;)
