Fruits of a long rainy weekend

Classes were suspended in all levels in the whole of Metro Manila due to the effects of what I would consider a one-day supertyphoon. Yesterday it was raining like the end of the world — I was half-expecting Evan Baxter’s ark to come bursting down our subdivision streets. Plus, there was a nationwide (?) blackout for about twelve hours; it would have been scary (or utterly boring), so I took it as a sign to get some sleep. I haven’t slept a full eight hours since the schoolyear opened, and I was more than happy to catch the fortysomething winks I’ve missed. :P

So yes, I feel quite blessed. I love it when it rains (as long as I’m inside the house; it’s such a b*tch if I were caught in the rain outside). There is a sense of peace I derive from the gray skies and the uncharacteristic cool (for Metro Manila weather, that is) the water brings. When I was younger I felt most creative when it’s raining. I pick up a book and finish it in a couple of hours; I wrote poetry; I indulged in arts and crafts.

But while I’m very fortunate to be sheltered by a strong, sturdy roof and concrete walls of our bungalow home, I do keep in mind the lot of families whose homes have been destroyed by the nonstop downpour, and so we pray for their safety and recovery from this disaster.

As for being creative, as soon as the lights were back on I put my webdesign skills to the limit — I managed to finish all the fanlistings I adopted from the previous owners Inge, Rosie, and Megan:

The Raven Baxter FL The Toblerone FL The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis FL The Dairy Queen Blizzard FL The Raven-Symone FL

EDIT2: And the Malibu and Sway FLs have gotten makeovers — because I could no longer take the ugliness of the first layout (for Malibu) and I just felt like a change (for Sway). XD Colors are quite monochromatic, no doubt inspired by the rainy weather.
The Hole: Malibu FL The Bic Runga: Sway FL

(And breaking news: Just got the approval to adopt the Danny Phantom: Danny x Sam Relationship FL from Ryoko! I love DP and I love those two together or as friends. XD)

And the sweetest news for the day? I still don’t have work tomorrow, since it’s the commemoration of the founding of Manila as a City (and I believe, the capital of the Philippines). Ah, the benefits of being a teacher — class suspension does not only favor students, after all. ;)

Although, as much as I love my job profession, I do relish the break from the ten-hour, six-day work week. In contrast to the stress in the long commute from home to school and the anxiety of preparing they day’s lessons, simply catching up on the television shows I missed is paradise. :P I am quite embarrassed to admit that, but hey, I’m only human. I welcome my lazy days whenever I can get them. XD

Good to hear you okay with all that rain. I also like the rain there is something about it that makes people creative. I used to love to sit with my window open and just draw when it would rain. The sounds ease me and I love to watch it.

Wow, that’s a lot of fanlistings you own! :O Where do you find the time, when you work so much?

I love being all dry and warm inside while it’s pouring down with rain outside! Makes me feel all safe! Can’t say it makes me any more creative though. :(

@Li: It usually just takes me about an hour or two to make an FL, so it’s a great distraction when I’m feel so drained by work ;)

And I definitely feel the same thing about the rain :) So glad to find someone else who does! :)

It’s been raining a lot here too, not to mention every single day while I was back in Taiwan (and I heard it still is). :/ Hopefully the rain won’t cause any major damages or casualties where you live.
But talk about creativity! I don’t think I can ever be motivated enough to complete all those fanlistings in one sitting. Congrats! xD

@Mimi: Thanks, girl! :) There have been a lot of deaths throughout the Philippines because of the typhoons… :(

As to FL’s, I’m really addicted to them, LOL.
